ماعت تشارك في افتتاح منتدي التنمية المستدامة وتقدم مداخلة في ندوة المجتمعات المستدامة في السعودية MAAT participates in the opening of a forum on sustainable development; Maat made intervention in seminar on Sustainable Societies in Saudi Arabia

 

عقيل : الاقتصاد الأخضر والاستدامة البيئية طوق نجاة للبشرية من الصراعات المحتملة

شهد اليوم الأول لأعمال الدورة الحالية لمنتدي السياسات رفيع المستوى المعني بالتنمية المستدامة المنعقد بنيويورك خلال الفترة من 9 إلى 18 يوليو الجاري نشاطا مكثفا لوفد مؤسسة ماعت للسلام والتنمية وحقوق الإنسان ومجموعة المنظمات الإفريقية الكبرى .

وقد صرح أيمن عقيل رئيس مؤسسة ماعت ورئيس المجموعة الإفريقية بأن الوفد شارك في الجلسة الافتتاحية للمنتدي  والتي تضمنت كلمة  السيدة ماري شاتاردوفا رئيس  المجلس الاقتصادي و الاجتماعي   ، والسيد لوي زينمن وكيل الامين العام للأمم المتحدة  للشؤون الاقتصادية و الاجتماعية ، والخبير الدولي المعروف جافري ساكس مدير مركز التنمية المستدامة في جامعة كولومبيا وكبير مستشاري الأمم المتحدة وأحد أهم المتخصصين في قضايا التنمية المستدامة والإدارة البيئية في العالم .

وأشار عقيل إلى ان هناك تركيز كبير خلال هذه الدورة على قضايا الاقتصاد الأخضر والإدارة المستدامة للموارد المائية والطاقة المتجددة، بوصفها  ” أطواق” نجاة تنقذ الإنسانية من الندرة الشديدة في هذه الموارد والصراع حولها  بشكل أصبح يهدد السلام العالمي بشكل حقيقي ، وقال رئيس  المجموعة الإفريقية ورئيس مؤسسة ماعت  أن الوفد سيركز في كل مشاركاته وفعالياته ولقاءاته على هذه القضايا ، وسيعرض مقترحات وأفكار بناءة في هذا الصدد .

في ذات السياق  شاركت  مؤسسة ماعت للسلام والتنمية وحقوق الإنسان  وقدمت مداخلة شفوية  خلال فعالية جانبية بعنوان ” المجتمعات المستدامة في السعودية” والتي عقدتها البعثه الدائمة للمملكة العربية  السعودية في الامم المتحدة مساء الأمس ، حيث ناقشت الفعالية الاستراتيجية الوطنية  في المملكة 2030 ، وما تتضمنه من انشاء مجتمع مستدام في الرياض حيث تتولى وزارة الشئون  البلدية  الريفية هذا الامر  ، وتركز على اعادة التدوير  الكامل للمخلفات بطريقة امنة و مستدامة و .

قدمت مداخلة مؤسسة ماعت السيدة هاجر منصف مدير وحدة التنمية المستدامة و الشؤون الافريقية  وركزت فيها على التحديات التي تواجهها الحكومة السعودية في تنفيذ اجراءات تحقيق المجتمعات المستدامة و وما إذا كان  وعي المواطن السعودي  يشكل عائق امام ذلك ، وكان هناك نقاش حول الإجراءات المتخذة في هذا الصدد  خاصة ان  الهيئة المعنية في المملكة تعمل حاليا على  تنشيط مجموعات لتوعيه الشباب و الاطفال لينشأوا على مفهوم الاستدامة

 

 

Okeil: A green economy and environmental sustainability a lifeline to humanity of potential conflicts 

 

New York 10 July 2018

The first day of the current session of the High-Level Policy Forum on Sustainable Development, in New York from 9 to 18 July, witnessed the intensive activities of Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights Delegation and the NGO Major Group of Africa.

Ayman Okeil the General Director of  Maat and Chairman of the African Group said that the delegation participated in the opening session of the Forum, which included the speech of Marie Chatardová President of the Economic and Social Council, Mr. Liu Zhenmin as the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, the expert International Centre for sustainabe development Director Jeffrey Sachs at Colombia University and Senior Adviser to the United Nations and one of the most important specialists in environmental management and sustainable development issues in the world.

Okeil noted that there is a great focus during this session on green economy and sustainable management of water resources and renewable energy, as “lifelines” saving humanity from the scarcity of these resources and the conflict around them, in a way that threatens global peace. The president of Maat and Chairman of the Major Group of Africa said that the delegation will focus on all his posts, events and meetings on these issues, and the delegation will present suggestions and constructive ideas in this regard.

In the same context Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights participated and presented an oral intervention during a side event entitled “sustainable communities in Saudi Arabia” convened by the Permanent Mission of Saudi Arabia in United Nations yesterday evening. Maat discussed the national strategic effectiveness in the Kingdom 2030, including the establishment of a sustainable society in Riyadh where the Ministry of Municipal Affairs is responsible for this, and focus on full recycling of waste in a safe and sustainable.

Maat intervention was presented by Ms. Hajar Monsif; Head of Secretariat of NGO Major group for Africa. Hajar focused on the challenges faced by the Saudi Government in implementing measures to achieve sustainable communities and whether the awareness of the Saudi citizen is a hindrance, and there was a discussion about actions taken in this regard. In particular to the concerned body in the Kingdom, which is currently working on activating awareness groups for young people and children to build on the concept of sustainability.
